Talk of the Room supplies and coordinates teams of professional close-up magicians for events across the UK. It was set up by a working magician, and it is run to the standards he holds himself to.
01 How we choose performers
Chosen the way a magician would want to be chosen
- We see them perform. Every magician we work with has been watched performing for real guests, not just on video.
- We check the basics. Public liability insurance of at least £5 million, references from recent clients, and a written agreement before every booking.
- We match them to the room. A boardroom dinner and a party for a thousand need different performers. We choose for your audience, not from a rota.
- We brief them properly. Running order, zones, dress code, guests to look after, and anything to avoid.
02 The founder
Pete James
Pete James is a professional close-up magician who has performed at more than 500 events over the past 15 years. He has been a Member of The Magic Circle since 2016 and an Associate of the Inner Magic Circle since 2021.
Large events need more than one performer, and organisers need someone to plan the team as a whole. Pete set up Talk of the Room to do that properly: to choose, brief and coordinate a team of magicians, with one plan and one contract for the organiser.
